And that number is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- From 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday, and until 8:00 PM Mondays and Thursdays, the staff is on hand to take your appointment or answer any scheduling, billing, insurance or medical questions you have. During that time, the office is open and we have access to your records, your medical chart and the other support structures we need to make sure we answer your question or take care of your problem.
- After 5:00 PM, the phones are transferred to the provider on-call. That way, when you dial the clinic after hours, the call is routed automatically to the provider. We do that to make finding us easier, but it has caused some confusion. Patients call after hours and want to schedule an appointment, ask about lab results or have a question about the bill. When we are not in the office, it is very difficult to answer questions or make appointments.
- Please understand, you will almost always get a person when you call. Please don't call at 7:00 AM to see if you can make an appointment. The office isn't open until 8:30 and you will wake up Dr. Harvey. He is not an early riser!
If the provider is not at home (we have lives, too) there will be an answering machine. As an alternative, you can call the Hawarden Community Hospital at 551-3100 and ask them to page us. We don't necessarily mean for you to go to the hospital, but that is where the page can be sent from. |
